for a Common Goal
Wing
Eyecare, like many growing offices with multiple locations,
experienced persistent downtime, system crashes, and slow network
speed. In spring 2001, Wing wanted to integrate all offices with a
management software program that would allow them to gather and
analyze information, process orders, and create executive reports
within a two-month window. The challenge was that all eleven locations
were operating independently and had outdated equipment and various
software programs. With Wing’s current infrastructure, data
integration appeared impossible. Wing knew they needed an IT partner
who had experience with a large-scale IT conversion and consolidation.
Continually
Providing More Value
Wing
contacted PC On Call to facilitate a network integration project. PC
On Call consulted with Wing to establish project objectives, time
requirements, budget, risk assessment, and the proposed solution. They
reached agreement with Wing Eyecare to begin the process with a full
On Call Checkup (OCCU). The checkup provided Wing and PC On Call the
ability to accurately assess and document the current IT
infrastructure. It also formalized the solution and became the
platform for a successful software implementation and future business
system scalability.
Wing
required networking expertise, server consolidation, cable and
hardware replacement, more efficient storage, and easier, secure
backup procedures. PC On Call's detailed implementation plan made
Wing's two-month software rollout possible.
As a result
of this project, Wing became acquainted with PC On Call's other IT
management services. They have chosen to become an IT Partner which
provides them with regular, preventative server maintenance and
as-needed PC task management. PC On Call will also supply additional
technical staffing as they jointly refine Wing's IT business plan and
identify other initiatives that require specific network, server, or
desktop expertise.
