How to Facilitate Successful Expansion

Since their inception in July 2000, Redox has grown from a single, three-person office to a dynamic, multi-location, twenty-seven-person business. As a result of this expansion, Redox needed an IT service provider that would 1) integrate home office/remote office communications, 2) support dial-in database updates, and 3) work with their software vendors to provide the appropriate technology for remote network access. Although Redox knew they had significant IT needs, they had a limited budget.

PC On Call was initially contacted to support three people, one desktop, two notebook computers, and a printer. As Redox's business grew, the partnership with PC On Call grew as well. Redox requested that PC On Call develop an integrated technology plan to meet the demands of their business. PC On Call's sales and technical teams met with Redox's management to understand and document the current project objectives, risks, budget, and longer-term business needs. After thoroughly assessing the situation, PC On Call presented a solution that prioritized technology needs against the available budget, without sacrificing performance.

  • Performed an On Call Checkup - a comprehensive network audit and analysis to:

  • Support planned recommendations

  • Assure no loss of valuable company data

  • Provide a written record of completed work and system performance

  • Prioritize system recommendations and spend

  • Supplied all hardware using cost-effective economies of scale

  • Provided on-site technicians for quick implementation and less downtime

  • Implemented switch to T-1 lines to increase bandwidth and data availability

  • Added anti-virus programs and firewalls to provide network security
     

Upgraded Redox's IT infrastructure to include:

  • An Exchange server for better in-house e-mail management

  • A Citrix  server to improve remote connectivity

  • A Windows 2000 Server for basic client-server networking

  • An SQL server to sufficiently house the new database

  • Facilitated successful migration to Windows 2000

  • Installed an APC rack system to improve safety and maintenance, to maximize storage space, and to enhance functionality
